The two core tings in Lessings writing is the terms RO and RW.

RO is Read Only. For those known to the unix world, you know how powerful the restriction of read only is. read only no copies, and no changes. At all. No exceptions. No good intentions no nothing. Just read it. Do not do anything else. For Lessing RO is the same, you get to read a book, but nothing else. But becouse this was a big obsticle to how a discursse is , quoting is allowed. For books. Quoting means you get to take tiny pisec of an work and put it in an other context. Like if you want to write an assigmnent or a blogpost about a book you read. You can quote areas that meens something special to you.

but this is no longer allowed wwith music, and Lessing protest and try to explane why. He starts out by giving a historic context to this debate, and says that It used to make sense to not alloww copying music and videos becouse the tere was a limit it the technology to do this. It used to be difficult and expencive to copy music. Now it’s not and now it does not make sense anymore to prohibit copy of music. To prohibit direct competition against the orginale work, yes, but not to prevent the listener to develop the work.

And this is where RW comes into the picture.
RW. Re-Write. With this you get to both read, and write. You can change a copy, you get to quote a work if you want to. You get to comment on work that is part of your life and the punblic. this is not the same as making a copy of a cd and sell it to take from the originale artist his work. But you get to remix the work and make it your own, and then share it. Like wikipedia. Or Fanart.
