In this class we got several text to read. I will write down notes on every article. First the notes on the Benjamintext. This text is very difficult to understand. Benjamin speaks of aura of an original. But it is difficult to understand wherther he thinks it is a bad thing if a thing looses it aura and becommes more acseccible. However in class we talk about this, and taking into account the periode of time and place Benjamin lived in, the conclution is that loosing the Aura is a bad thing.

The benjamin txt gives me an idea of what migth be the problem of the author i my case. She is very spesific about context, and worry about the poem in other contect loosing /something/. This something migth be the aura or authorithy of the original. A copy in a different contect migth compete with her original . Must think more about this.

This is my notes on how to make the video, what things i need to have in it, and things i need to do. I feel i lack some theory. As well as time in the lab to work on the video (I can’t wait until things calms down a bit), but i can find videos at home, even if i can’t work them together. My problem is that i got two problems with the case both very intressting. i think i will persue both for now in hope that the better one get to crystalize and becomme clear.

I have decided to work with to terms within moral philosophy.

The case i will apply thise to terms on is: A poem and the re-publishing of this online, against authors wish, by fans of the poem. The law is clear enough, but it is not the law that uppset the parties innvolved. For the author there is a question of having her work republished against her wish, for some of the fans it is a lack of recognition as a fan, and the ownership to the poem. The problem is not the law, but the context of the work being presented in, and the author / work / reader relationship. I will try to shed light on this problem by making a video. The video vil try to explore the different kind of moral. The core questions is: Is it necessary (konsekvensetikk)? What if others did the same (pliktetikk) ?

To make the video reflect this i must first collect the viewpoint of the ones involved with this. So far i have had a reply from everyone. I have not yet talked to the author. And i will have a look at similar cases to to see if it is possible to solve or shed light on the problem. I don’t expect to solve the problem, it is after all a moral one. But perhaps it will be easier to see different kinds of view on the problem of republishing (whole or a part) others work. I will try to have a focus on the republishing , as a whole because when it comes to remixing little pieces there is much more relative factors to take into account. The focus is also on a short price of work, this makes it easier to see the possible value of reinterpret the work. A big movie like the matrix as a whole will not have the same possebillity as easy.
